Ibadan Literary Festival is an annual literary event in the University of Ibadan organized by The Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan. It is an initiative aimed at rejuvenating the culture of art appreciation, educating and bringing together intellectual minds to air their views on issues in the literary scene. This is achieved by bringing together artists and creatives across varying genres for a day, to discuss perspectives and views of issues in the literary scene through the lens of the festival’s theme.
This festival began as the brainchild of Dara Olaniyan, 6th President of the Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan, who thought it up as a means to heighten literacy awareness amongst students and provide a platform for the creative literary segment of our population to shine.
The last edition of the Ibadan Literary Festival featured performances of various genres, varying from opera to poetry to dance and was graced with the presence of personalities such as Logan February, T.J Benson, Professor Femi Osofisan, Dr. Yinka Egbokhare, Professor Aderemi Raji-Oyelade, Temmie Ovwaza, Nwachukwu Egbunike and Ayodele Olufintuade, amidst a host of others.
