It is 2 days to Jaw War 2021 and we all know it’s gonna be bomb! With Halls and Faculties preparing “fervently” for the trophy, enthusiasm has been building vigorously and the questions on people’s lips are:
What hall or faculty will win?
Is Ayeni Otito-Jesu speaking?
Who will lose and who will qualify for quarter finals?
Well, to be honest, these are hot questions! but the hotter question now, is:
Who are the top speakers speaking at Jaw War 2021?
For the first three questions, you can only get the answer when you attend Jaw War (Oh, don’t forget to get your front row seat ticket here for a cheap price of #500. You don’t wanna be the person sitting at the backđ).
The last question is about to be comprehensively answered in this research-based post. It is important for you to know that we didn’t just arbitrarily compile a list of the most popular public-speakers in University of Ibadan, we compiled this list based on:
- Number of awards won by the speaker
- Level of logic the speaker delivers in public-speaking event
- Level of popularity and influence in the public-speaking sphere.
Without further ado, 0ut of the 250 speakers registered to speak at Jaw War, here is the list of the Top 20 public-speakers to watch out for in Jaw War 2021

20) Mbabie Esther
Esther is a spoken word artist, a vlogger, a content writer. She is a 400 level student of the department of statistics, Faculty of Science. She is the Vice-president of Faculty of Science Literary and Debating Society.
Esther was the second-runner up at the inter-hall oratory contest put together by Poets in Nigeria, in 2018.
She is known for the unique perspective she brings on speeches.
19)Aweda Bolaji
Aweda Bolaji is a 300-level student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of both Lord Tedder Hall and Faculty of Verterinary Medicine LND where he serves as Public Relations Officer in both LNDs.
Aweda is an expert in public relations and is currently running for the post of University of Ibadan’s student Union Public Relations Officer.
He was the runner up at Kenneth Mellanby Hall King of the Podium Inter-hall Oratory Competition (2020), and was also the runner up at Independence Hall inter-hall Oratory Competition (2020)
Aweda is noted for the use of punchlines.
18) Nafisat Ogunsesan
Nafisat is a 300-level student of the Faculty of Law. She is a member of both Law LND and Obafemi Awolowo Hall LND. She was 2019 Law LND Rookie of the Year. She was the first-runner up Rookie of the Year in Awo LND, the winner of Mellanby Oratory Competition and the Winner of Model United Nations UI 2019 inter-faculty debate competition.
17)Precious Mbamara
Precious Mbamara is a 400-level Law Student and the President of Queen Idia Hall Literary and Debating Society. She was the 2019 winner of JCI National Debate Championship and the 2020 Queen Idia Hall Orator of the Year.
Precious enjoys travelling, networking and planning events.
Precious is known for the sound content and Logic she employs in speeches.

16) Dare Irawooluwa
Irawooluwa is a 300-level student of the Department of Classics. She is a member of both Queen Elizabeth Hall and Faculty of Arts LND. Currently, she is the President of Queen Elizabeth II Literary and Debating Society. She won the round of Bello Hall Bilateral Debate in 2019. She is a podcaster.
Irawooluwa is noted for the sound content her speech comprises.
15) Seun Sanwo-olu
Seun is the President of Faculty of Arts Literary and Debating Society. She was a finalist at the Expressions Undergraduate Debate. She is a 400 level of the Department of Philosophy.
Through her brand named âSeepnsaveâ, she makes environmental sustainable products.
Seun has represented her constituency in Debate competitions and is known for her content rich speeches.
14) Omotayo Adenugba
Omotayo is a 400-level student of Anthropology. He is a member of the Great Independence Hall Literary and Debating Society. He is a student researcher and Certified media personnel. Omotayo is currently the Vice-President of the Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan.
He was the second-runner up at Witty and Skillful 2018, Superbowl 2019 Finalist, and the winner of Barrister Adebowale’s Debating day.
Omotayo is noted for the creativity he employs in his speeches.
13) Chineke Ugochukwu
Chineke is a 200 level Law Student. He is a member of both Sultan Bello Hall and Law LND. He was the Best Speaker at Commanders Debate in 2014 and Best International Speaker at Singapore 2016 (African-Asia Debate Championship).
He was also the Anambra State Representative at the Buhari Inauguration Debate Championship in 2017. He was first runner up of Sultan of the Podium- 2019 and three times Best Speaker at Bello Rookie League 2019. He was also a finalist at Superbowl Oratory Competition 2019.
Chineke is noted for his powerful delivery. Watch out!

12) Olayiide Bolaji
Olayiide Bolaji is a 200-level student of English Department, Faculty of Arts. He is a member of both Lord Tedder Hall and Faculty of Arts LND. He is currently the General Secretary of the Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan. He is also the Speech Coach of Lord Tedder Hall Literary and Debating Society.
He is a content writer.
Bolaji was the winner of 2019 Lord Tedder Hall King of the Podium oratory contest. Afterwards, he was the Overall Best Rookie at Superbowl 2019 and was also the second-runner up of the competition. He also won the Awo Hall 2020 inter-hall Rookie Oratory contest. Bolaji is noted for the logical content he serves in his speech.
11) Chidera Anushiem
Chidera is a 400 level student of the Faculty of Pharmacy. He is a member of both the Great Independence Hall LND and Pharmacy LND. He is also the President of Faculty of Pharmacy Literary and Debating Society. Chidera was the winner of Sir Ifeanyi Debate Competition (6th edition). The first runner-up at 2017 Jaw War Rookie contest and finalist at NANS South-west inter-tertiary Debate Competition.
10) Goodness Okunsanya
Goodness is a 300-level student of the Department of Communication and Language Arts, Faculty of Arts. He is a member of both Kuti Hall and Faculty of Arts LND Â He was the winner of 2019 Kuti Hall inter-house debate, the first-runner up at Prof.Egbokhare Oratory Contest (Positivia) 2018 and was also the first runner up at Kuti Hall Great man of the podium.
Goodness is also a graphic designer, advert enthusiast, keyboardist and vocalist.
Goodness is noted for his persuasive use of delivery.
He is currently the Vice-President of Faculty of Arts LND and the Speech Coach of Kuti Hall LND
9)Yusuf Aisha
Aisha is a 300-level Law Student. She is a member of both Obafemi Awolowo Hall Literary and Debating Society and Law LND. She was the overall best speaker at professor Egbokhare inter-press debate. Afterwards, she was best speaker at Queen Idia hall debate competition and second-runner up at Kuti Hall inter-hall debate competition.
Yusuf Aisha is also a freelance writer.
Currently, she is the Speech Coach of Obafemi Awolowo Hall Literary and Debating Society
8) Adeyinka Gold
Adeyinka Gold is 400 level student of the Department of music, Faculty of Arts. He is a member of both the Faculty of Arts LND and Kenneth Mellanby Hall LND. He is a rapper and Pianist.
Gold won the Best Speaker award at Kenneth Mellanby Hall fresherâs debating contest in 2016/2017 and was the Best speaker at 2019 Jaw War quarter finals (faculty). He was also the most outstanding speaker of The Voice Out contest, 2020.
Adeyinka Gold is notable for his effortless use of delivery.
7)Â Chiziterem Ogbonna
Chiziterem, also called âChizzyâ is a 400 level Law Student. He is a member of both Nnamdi Azikwe Hall and Faculty of Law LND and was the first runner up of Prima Strata National Law Studentsâ Debate. He won the 2018 JCI Lanre Bello inter-faculty debate. He is also the winner of the Professor Jester Debate.
Chiziterem is also a creative writer.
Chizzy is currently the Vice-President of Law Literary and Debating Society and the President of Nnamdi Azikwe Literary and Debating Society.
6) Goodness Adedigba
Adedigba Goodness is a 300 level Medical Student. He is a member of the Great Independence Hall Literary and Debating Society. Goodness has a combined strength of good content, delivery and logic.
He was the 2019 winner of Cicero Oratory Contest, The Great Independence Hall Oratory Contest and 2020 Clash of Divas Oratory Contest.

5) Barnabas Michael
Barnabas Michael popularly called âBarnyjuiceâ, is a 400 level student of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Faculty of Technology. He is a member of both Sultan Bello Hall LND and Faculty of Technology LND. He was the overall best speaker of Sultan Bello Hall Bilateral debate competition (2017). He was the first runner up at Nnamdi Azikwe Inter-hall impromptu contest in 2018.
He was also the winner, wordplay master and overall best orator- Bullets vs. Dynamites (Armory of Words 2019). At the 2021 Dr.Olumide Oyebanji Memorial Annual interfaculty Oratory competition 2021, he was the Best orator and first-runner up.
Barnabas is noted for his incredible punch lines and wordplay as well as delivery and logic.
He is the current Deputy-General of Sultan Bello Hall Literary and Debating Society.
4) Victor Fabarebo
Victor is the President of University of Ibadanâs British Parliamentary Debate Club. He is a 300level Law Student.
He is a member of both Sultan Bello Hall LND and Law LND
He was the overall winner of 2021 Moyosore Onigbanjo Essay Competition/presentation on Data Privacy. He was also the winner of MIPLG African Intellectual Property Debate 2020.
Also, he was the first runner-up at Lagos State University National Inter varsity debate and first runner up at 2019 National Law Studentsâ debate.
Victor is noted for his incredible logic and speech writing.
Victor Fabarebo is the Captain of Bullet Squad in Bello Literary and Debating Society and the Assistant Speech Coach in Law Literary and Debating Society
3) Lawal Mubarak
Lawal Mubarak is the President of Faculty of Technology Literary and Debating Society and the Vice-President of Tedder Hall LND. He is a 400 level student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Mubarak was the Best Speaker at Jaw War finals 2019, was the Best Speaker at Faculty of Technology Bilateral Debate and was the winner of Jaw War Rookie Oratory Competition 2018.
Mubarak is popular for the use of logic in his speeches. He is also very good at delivering Rebuttal Speeches.
He is a Software Developer.
2) Ayo-Salako Faithful
Faithful is a 400-level Law Student. He is a member of both Kuti Hall and Faculty of Law LND. He is currently the President of Kuti Hall Literary and Debating Society. He is also the speech coach of Faculty of Law Literary and Debating Society. He was the winner of 2018 Ransome Kuti Hall Great man of the podium. He was also the joint winner of 2018 Junior Chamber International Debate Competition.
Also, he was the first runner up at 2018 armory of words inter-hall oratory competition and was the Overall Best Speaker at Jaw War 2019.

1)Ayeni Otito-Jesu Joshua
He is a 400-level student of the Department of Library, Archival and Information Science
Ayeni Otito-Jesu Joshua is a multi-potentialite, public speaker, content writer and communications consultant. He holds a professional certificate in communications from the Williams Davidson Institute, University of Michigan, USA. Otito-Jesu is an advocate of transformational leadership and his interests cut across media, communications, data and research.Â
In 2020, Otito-Jesu spoke at the Daring Debates Africa debate tournament and his team emerged 3rd out of 12. In 2019, he got selected as a United Nations Millennium Fellow (in partnership with Ford Foundation) and co-emerged Winner at the ENACTUS nationalsâ leadership challenge; Winner, Dragonsâ Jaw, Armory of Words 2019; Winner of the Most Outstanding Speaker Award, Jaw War 2018; Winner and Best speaker at the Finals, Jaw War 2018; 1st runner up, inter-faculty oratory competition by the Studentsâ Council on Legal Aids, University of Ibadan â 2018; 1st Runner up, witty and Skillful â 2018; Winner, rookie of the year award, Jaw war 2017; 1st runner up, Intra-faculty Debate competition, Faculty of Education â 2017.
He is a member of both Faculty of Education LND and Kenneth Mellanby Hall LND. Otito was Vice-President of Kenneth Mellanby Hall Literary and Debating Society and was the Public Relations officer of The Literary and Debating Society during Sadiq Gbenga’s administration.
He is currently the President of the Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan.
