UISU holds Interhall Freshers’ Oratory Competition in Collaboration with TLDS

On May 13, 2025, the University of Ibadan didn’t just host an oratory contest—it witnessed the rise of voices that shook walls and stirred minds.

The UI’SU Interhall Freshers’ Oratory Competition, in collaboration with TLDS, became a fiery playground where eloquence met insight.

With the theme, “The Ghost of the First and Best,” speakers tackled the weight of legacy, the pressure of prestige, and the power of purpose. Halls like Indy, Awo, Idia, Zik,

Tedder, Bello  and Queens sent their best freshers; each one stepping up, speaking out, and owning the moment.

Oluwafunmilayo Iyanuoluwa (Immaculate), representing Great Independence Hall, emerged winner. Imala TreasureObafemi Awolowo Hall and Orogun Oghenetejiri Praise – Queen Idia Hall, emerged runner-ups
But beyond the placings, what we saw was hope. Hope for the future of campus speech, of storytelling, of truth.

These weren’t just speeches; they were statements.

And if this is what the freshers are bringing, then the future of TLDS and UI oratory is unstoppable.
